Before his retirement, he was on the faculty there from 1977-2021. He holds a doctorate in political science from Boston University, a master\u2019s degree from Northeastern University, and a bachelor\u2019s degree from MIT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is the author of&nbsp;<em>The United States and the Philippines: A Study of Neocolonialism<\/em>&nbsp;(1981);&nbsp;editor of&nbsp;<em>Socialist Visions<\/em>&nbsp;(1984); author of&nbsp;<em>Imperial Alibis: Rationalizing U.S. Intervention After the Cold War<\/em>&nbsp;(1993); co-editor of&nbsp;<em>The Philippines Reader<\/em>&nbsp;(1987),&nbsp;<em>Bitter Flowers, Sweet Flowers: East Timor, Indonesia, and the World Community<\/em>&nbsp;(2001); author of the text&nbsp;<em>Which Side Are You On? An Introduction to Politics<\/em>&nbsp;(2003); and editor of&nbsp;<em>Perilous Power: The Middle East &amp; U.S. Foreign Policy. Dialogues on Terror, Democracy, War, and Justice<\/em>&nbsp;by Noam Chomsky and Gilbert Achcar (2007). He is on the editorial board of&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newpol.org\">New Politics<\/a><\/em>, a member of Jewish Voice for Peace, and of the Real Utopia network.
