Stephen Rosskamm Shalom is emeritus professor of political science at William Paterson University. Before his retirement, he was on the faculty there from 1977-2021. He holds a doctorate in political science from Boston University, a master’s degree from Northeastern University, and a bachelor’s degree from MIT.
He is the author of The United States and the Philippines: A Study of Neocolonialism (1981); editor of Socialist Visions (1984); author of Imperial Alibis: Rationalizing U.S. Intervention After the Cold War (1993); co-editor of The Philippines Reader (1987), Bitter Flowers, Sweet Flowers: East Timor, Indonesia, and the World Community (2001); author of the text Which Side Are You On? An Introduction to Politics (2003); and editor of Perilous Power: The Middle East & U.S. Foreign Policy. Dialogues on Terror, Democracy, War, and Justice by Noam Chomsky and Gilbert Achcar (2007). He is on the editorial board of New Politics, a member of Jewish Voice for Peace, and of the Real Utopia network. He was the director of the Gandhian Forum for Peace & Justice at William Paterson University for seven years and director of the minor in Middle East studies.
